timing chain has been replaced under GM recall but still reports P0008. Dealers says I need new ECM but I don't feel good that they updated original ECM

P0008 Engine position system performance Bank 1
When this code set the ECM test for a misalignment , if it exceeds the learned value exceeds its thresholds it set a P0008. P0009 P0016 These are mechanical codes, why the ECM sees the cam position , sees the CKP position,. then set if the target is off. Under the GM recall the timing chain is reprogram for timing chain wear, Unfortunately you are in a hard spot, reprogram the ECM that's not going to work, go ahead replace it , that's not the fix, This is mechanical . P0008 is rationality.
