I have a 07 Cadillac STS that was under recall for this timing chain problem. The garage "shimmed" it instead of replacing the chain. I have all kinds of bottoming out and bucking on gear changing and a major "burr" sound on accelerating. Could these be related?

Thank you Reynaldo. I'm a non-mechanic woman and I figured as much. The garage that did this is the Cadillac dealer I paid good cash to 8 years ago for it 42 grand brand new and I think it should be doing better for me as well as they should. The factory warranty is out now because of years and yet I only have 42 thousand miles on it. I got my letter from GM saying this timing belt recall has to be corrected within 10 years of purchase date. What should I do now? I would like to know if these symptoms I'm having are from this belt? I have a good mind to take it back and tell them to make it right and if they have to keep it a week. Is that what you would do?

What GM did was update the timing chain guides, When there is slack on the timing chain , The valves open late, closes early, and this is the result of the engine bucking, The worst case scenario is the timing chain will snap, which will result in a more costly repair bill.
