Hi there,

Depending on the vehicle, this is usually a result of a bad vent control valve or purge solenoid. Normally the vapors are not being pulled from the charcoal canister and the result is no place for the vapors to go when you are trying to fill the tank. This causes the fuel to come back and turn the pump off.
