2004 Kia Sorento 3.5L, how can we fix this p0700 code problem with transmission?

This code is most common when there is a code stored in the TCM and it is telling the eCM to turn on the check engine light. What you need is a scan tool that can check the codes in the TCM.Most code readers can't do this and only check for stored codes in the ECM. Get the codes from the TCM and then repair the fault. The check engine light can then be cleared.
