I have a 1998 Ford Contour 2.5L V6 with code P1744, what is this problem?

The P1744 code means that the transmission torque converter clutch is not working properly. There are a few thing that can cause that problem, like the transmission fluid level and condition, the torque converter clutch or the torque converter torque solenoid.
