I have been abetting intermittent p0400 codes and decided to replace the EGR valve with Ford OEM valve and new gasket. This is the new style valve with the DPFE integrated into the valve. After replacing the valve the code went away after a few hours but has now returned a day later.  When replacing the valve I cleaned the tube and ports where the tube and EGR connect. I am also finding very little information about this vehicle or this problem on the internet which is very unusual.
Vehicle: 2009 Ford Escape XLT FWD 3.0 V6

P0400 Exhaust Gas Recirculation

The type of EGR system you have is the  EGR ESM, the fluid level of the cooling system  has to be correct, this is the MAP sensor also.
