Does P0008 also include gas cap not being closed properly?  Because I took it off this A.M., put it back on and when I started the car, engine light was off!  Am I asking for a miracle!

Yes, But the fuel cap has nothing to do with P0008 or not starting.  Anything related to the fuel cap is for the EVAP system. Your setting a P0008 this code relates to the timing chain or the crankshaft position sensor, the crankshaft reluctor   is pressed onto the crankshaft. These have a tendency to shift out of position and the required fix is to replace the crankshaft. But the good thing is it only set one code, P0008 is related to the timing chain on Bank 1
