i replaced knock sensor and car will not run

i had knock sensor code, ran rough at idle, but ok at drive speeds. I stopped at light- went to go and car died. tried to restart, died again, finally started but ran very rough till I got to side of road. died, will not restart
Vehicle: 1996 nissan altima 4 cyl
