Hello, I have 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5 engine. My transmission doesnt shift into 3 or 4 gear. The RPM Stay high with I'm about 60 Mille per hour. I know that's not normal.  I'm Getting code P0740 NISSAN - Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid circuit interment. I have replaced the solenoid thinking that was the issue but no result. I purchased used transmission from junkyard yard except the convertor (big round thing inside the transmission). I have changed the transmission fluid like your page suggested. So the only thing I have not change is the convertor. My question is does the convertor goes bad as well? Do I need to reset the code. Thanks in advance
Vehicle: 2002

When you set a P0740 this is electrical , If the convertor was bad it goes bad in two ways the impellor and propellor or the stator freezes up together and stalls the engine at stop, it also vibrate the whole car. If your driving down the road and you hear a glass like sound rattling from the engine compartment areavyou have a bad torque convertor.  P0740 is electrical , If you set a P0744 on the original transmission. it mechanical , use the torque convertor as a door stop.
