2001 Maxima error code p0740

Question

Transmission shifting very rough in overdrive; when I turn off overdrive car & transmission runs fine. Can I safely operate the car with overdrive off? Is this a sign that my transmission will eventually fail?

P0740 Torque convertor clutch circuit malfunction

Your going to have to drive it with the overdrive of, just for comfort, with this code condition if there is a increase in engine speed there will be no lock up. This does not mean that the transmission is faulty it just this a faulty circuit or a faulty solenoid
