So I replaced my coil pack under a year ago. It corrected the problem for about a week. Over the year it has gotten worse. Now it's so bad that it shakes amd I've lost the get up and go power. Hooking up a code reader it is the same some that was given before. I'm taking it in to get it looked at, but I would like to know what kind of cost or root problem I'm looking at so that I can understand if the mechanic is doing a proper job. (female and I explained it to him already but in a round about way doesn't believe me) I've researched this issue and I some what get what could potentially be causing it. I also  would like to know what damage it would cause if driving for a long term it would cause to my vehicle.

Hi there,

First, if cylinder #3 is still misfiring even after the coil was replaced, there could be other reasons. Intake manifold gasket leaking, a bad fuel injector on #3, or some type of internal engine problem causing low engine compression. One thing we do see on these also is problems with the negative battery cable breaking. This can cause the coils to fail early on the car. Also, it's possible one of the other coils is causing the problem. Pricing is really going to vary on this without knowing what is wrong, I can't really give you a repair cost. Finally, it's your car, if you are looking at extensive work,, get a second opinion. If it's a misfire, a long term affect of driving it this way could be causing catalytic converter damage on bank 1.
