Hooked up a Snap-on OBD-ll code reader and the transmission couldn't be found?? Problem with the reader, or is the transmission grouped along with the engine and power train? Trans was going in and out of lock-up when starting from 0 mph. RPM would rise in drive and letting off the throttle would lock up the trans and the car would lunge. This would happen several times then trans would lock up and work properly. The other day while driving, the trans started slipping in drive at 30mph while going up a hill. Wouldn't down shift either, but it still had some pull, but not much. Let it sit for a day. Started it and drove it around the block with no problem. Fluid level is good. Color is good. Did the blotter test and no dark spot. No burnt smell either. Suggestions for finding the trans on the OBD-ll reader.

Hi there
If there are no codes stored, or the TCM can't be found there is likely an issue with the TCM itself or the power supply to the TCM. If the TCM is not working properly then the issue could be caused by the TCM. With no codes stored it's also possilbe there is a mechanical issue. A sticking valve in the valve body could do this. The computer wouldn't see a problem because electrically it's working.
