6 months ago the car would randomly (once a week or so) start horribly with the epc and cel lights on. The car would rev on its own, anywhere from 1000-3000 rpm (once it went all the way to 5.8k...), then sputter out randomly. I took it to my local vw stealership, $1200  later they had done a carbon cleaning and replaced the throttle body (neither of which involved the wiring harness), they looked at me funny when I asked if it had soemthing to do with the wiring because I had read that the MKV's had this problem too. Anyways after the repairs the car ran amazing, better than I've ever experienced actually (2nd owner). Then the other day I get in the car after not having a single problem in 6 months and boom epc, cel lights, the cars in limp mode and it sounds like its misfiring constantly. I turned it off and back on and it starts revving on its own again up to about 3k rpm. The car is dangerous I basically can't go over 50 miles without worrying about it dying on me randomly.

P0221Throttle pedal position sensor switch B circuit range performance

The throttle body being replaced is the correct route. Unfortunately the problem reoccurred, When a part is built for a vehicle they are build by industrial robots, You going to have to chance another part.
