ecu vin number

I have a 02 dodge intrepid and I replace a ecu but my car don't start and was wondering if it  had anything to do with I havent got it programmed it shows a different vin number  just wanted to know if that could be the cause of n ot firing

Yes, the ecm needs to be programmed so the security system will allow the car to start. If you didn't do this, then it will have it immobilized and prevent you from starting it.
