What would cause a random misfire code on my 1997 Chevrolet Malibu 3100? The engine is jumping.

A random misfire especially with the engine jumping, this would be its ignition system, such as the sparkplug wire shorting to ground, or ignition coil internally shorting,

Most of all misfire conditions are with its secondary ignition systems, such as its sparkplug wire secondary seeking ground, or ignition coil that is internally shorting.
