Check engine light on and off once in awhile. P2238 Code

Question

I am guessing likely is the Gas Cap Seal is leaking.   Issue started 6 months ago, ie only 3-1/2 years when started.  My question is can it be one of the sensor in Bank 1, but the signal come and go once in awhile.

P2238 Oxygen (A/F) sensor pumping current circuit / open, Bank 1 Sensor 1

This code is for the air fuel ratio  sensor or what is commonly reffered to as the oxygen sensor for Bank 1 Sensor , which is the upstream 02 sensor (or A/F sensor).This code is a intermittent condition what causes it is its resistance .
