1998 jaguar xj8l code p0741? what can be the problem and how to fix

  Had a rebuilt transmission fitted 3 years and/or 2300 miles ago but, as "snowbirds" we only use vehicle in Florida 3 months each year. Factory Transmissions Inc now inform me that warranty is 25000 miles or 2 years, whichever comes first. Therefore, due to age, warranty has expired. Car runs well even with Check Engine light on. They advise me that to determine more details of fault the car needs to go to Jaguar dealership who have quoted 1 hour / $175 plus tax to use their scanner!
