2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L with engine code P0340. Changed sensor but still runs rough and still in alarm.

Hi there,

This could indicate a possible timing issue. The cam sensor determines if the cam and crank sensor are syncronized. If the timing is off you can get the code even after replacing the sensor. This means there is a mechanical issue causing the code.
