My 2014 Chevy Cruise had the check engine light, the ABS light and stabili trak light all come on. Took it to the dealer, the said it misfired 900 times w/code po 300 to change to premium gas and see if it fixes it. Said something like it has to misfire a 1000 times before they do anything. This seems outrageous. Is this right? From what I've read this is dangerous.

Hi there,

Resolving the stabilitrac and ABS issues or lights will happen when the misfire code is resolved. Higher octane fuel may resolve the misfires so their theory makes sense. I would run a tank of premium and if the issue isn't resolved head back to the dealer. By the time you go through a tank of the good stuff, if it doesn't resolve the problem you will have the correct number of misfires to resolve the issue. Understand that the abs/stabilitrac is shut down when the check engine light comes on. The car is still safe to drive, it's not going to effect the mechanical braking of the car at all.
