P0328 Nissan xterra

Question

Code reads p0328 Alert invalid dtc index 10567 too high. Also p0340 Alert invalid dtc index 6089 too high. What is my problem and what do I replace?

Hi there,

The P0328 code is for the knock sensor. The P0340 is for the cam position sensor. The knock sensor will not turn on the check engine light, nor will it prevent the truck from starting. The P0340 will. This is usually either a bad cam sensor or a broken timing belt. The cam sensor is part of the distributor, so if the rotor is turning you will likely need to replace the disctributor. If not, then the timing belt is likely broken.
