P0455 Ford -why does my check engine light come on a day after I put gas in it.

My check engine light comes on the day after I put gas in it. I have had it reset twice and it comes on after I putin it. The gas cap is a year old. I had this problem then and bought a new one. Could it be that again

P0455 Evaporatie emission system gross leak detected

The Evaporative emission system will only check for evap leak when the fuel is from 1/4 to 3/4. If the fuel cap is good , then you are dealing with a evap leak. When dealing with a Ford Ranger the most common leak is at the fuel filler hose.esecially at the bend where it connects to the fuel tank

 Here a fuel fill hose leak this will set a P0455.
