Check engine light p0442 code

Question

Hi my check engine light has been on for quite some time in my 99 Hyundai accent...Midas said the code is p0442..what is this?I don't want to spend much more money on the car because I am going to get a newer car on about a month but my car broke down tonight..it seems to be the alternator but I just replaced the alternator in 2013 with an AutoZone lifetime warranty that I had purchased a few years earlier..but tonight it broke down right at the McDonald's drive thru window.,I.had to push it to a parking spot..could this p0442 code could be the cause of killing the battery or alternator or does it sound like the two year old alternator from AutoZone was not good?I would hope a alternator would last more than two years..but the dashboard lights on the car were dimming and then the airbag light came on also and it sounded like the car was running out of gas and then it died...please help...thank you.

The 442 code is an evap emissions code and did not do this to the car. From the sounds of it either the alternator failed or possibly the belt broke so the alternator wasn't charging any more.
