Check Engine Light (Code P0442) on 2003 Camry

Question

Comes on usually after filling tank with gas. I don't top off and I don't use premium gas. There is a pinhole in neck of tank. Light was reset a year ago and just came on for no apparent reason.

I'm not paying 500+ to replace gas tank neck as car has 288,000 miles on it.

What else could it be?

P0442 Evaporative emission control small leak

It does not matter what type of fuel grade you use, The best way to confirm if there is a small holse leak with the fuel tank is to have a smoke machine be used,

 Here a smoke machine is being used for a P0442, what set the code was a faulty fuel cap.
