P0301 Cadillac -

Question

On repeated p0301 code after changing spark plugs. Told by mech. I need timing belt replacement. Is this a possible cause for the same code.

P0301 Misfire number 1 cylinder

This engine uses a timing chain. If the timing chain was out of alignment you would have a P0016, P0017,P0018 , P0019, these would be for camshaft timing codes.

 Have the igntion coil check or swapped with another cylinder, if the misfire follows the coil is faulty, Just to get to the igntion coil the intake is removed, to your advantage replace the igntion coil
