Van has 145k mi, Limited with the 4.0 and 6sp trans... was running and shifting perfect until we returned home from a couple hr long trip. Made a stop once back to town b4 going to the house and as soon as we pulled out headed home... clunk, cel and limp mode. disconnected battery to clear and a couple days later, bam it did it again... I'm not a mechanic by trade but I've done lots of maintenance on vehicles, big rigs, heavy equipment, etc so I know my way around a shop and tools to some degree. So it ticks me off that as much as these cars cost they don't even bother to put in a trans dip stick cause they want u to have to bring it back and give them more of ur hard earned $... I've read could b just low fluid, need new fluid and filter, shift solenoid replaced or bad connections. I need to know where the OD shift solenoid is located so I can check connections and or replace it. Also I read bout someone using a cloths hanger straightened out to check fluid level but without knowing if its currently at the proper level I'm stumped on how to service it then make sure new fluid is at proper level... With just one blue collar income in a family of 6 $'s always tight so just running to the dealership for every lil repair is out of the question. Any helpful tips much appreciated!
P0760 OD solenoid circuit
Disconnected the battery then it ran fine till a couple days later? The what you need to replace is the transmission solenoid pressure switch assembly.
To access the transmission solenoid switch assembly you need to remove the transmission pan cover
With the cover open
and remove the switch assembly
