I have a 1996 Mitsubishi gallant with code p1443. Clear the code and drive a run cycle of anywhere between 25 and 150 miles and none of the monitors will set. the check engine light does not set but I do have a pending code for p1443. shut the vehicle off and restart the vehicle and begin driving it less than a 1/4 of a mile and the check engines sets. I've asked around and I have been told that most likely its the ECM. That seems very odd. The vehicle has 117,000 miles on it and it runs great. I have no other issues with it. Looking for more opinions on this before I start throwing hundreds of dollars at it. ECM new is around $350 for an aftermarket. any Ideas??

thanks
Ken

Hi there,

The code is for the purge control valve. The monitor for the evap system requires an overnight sitting as well. I would put a new purge control valve on it to be honest.
