Hi there,

A bad maf sensor will cause misfires and random misfire codes. This is because it is a huge factor when the computer is determining the fuel mixture. This is much like running a hot engine with the choke on, like on a lawnmower for example. To start it you need a rich mix, but once it is hot you turn the choke off. The same could be said for a lean mixture. If you try to start that same mower cold without the choke, it won't want to start or run right. If you are getting maf sensor codes, it's best to start there.
