my 2002 jeep liberty has the check engine light on, i went to auto zone and they gave me a trouble shooter it was p0500, please tell me what that mean

P0500 Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal

This mean the ECM does not see the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) .The ECM uses the VSS for ABS system. and also the instrument panel speedometer.
