whats wrong with my 98 f150 supercab

Question

i got a 98 f150 supercab with th 4.6 auto tranny i replaced the speed sensor in the rear transfer case after getting the code po 500 the speedometer still isnt working but the tranny is shifting. Is it the cluster or a wiring problem? Also the odmeter is in the middle of the speedometer and the odometer isnt working

P0500 Vehicle speed sensor malfunction

If the transmission is shifting then the problem may not be  with the instrument cluster. The speed sensor signal is sent to the GEM (generic electronic module) . If you can use a scan tool that can read Fords GEM. module. That or if you  have a scan tool that can read the vehicle speed. and it matches what you are driving the problem would be with the instrument cluster.
