The problem is intermittent but persistent when it occurs...it comes in cycles where it will persist for anywhere from a few day to a few weeks and then can be absent for several months before occurring again. Also, it most often occurs on hot days.
Sometimes when I start the car, or shortly after driving, the traction control system light is illuminated and sometimes when this happens, the car is locked in park such that I have to turn it off, insert the key to unlock the gears and start in neutral. At these times I've also noticed that when pulling out the car acts as if it is confused about the amount of fuel to inject such that the take offs are sluggish and then suddenly speed up. Also, the check engine light comes on more frequently, especially after refueling. I have made certain that I am tightening the gas cap sufficiently. Sometime when I stop at lights or stop signs I feel the car is idling normalizing and then gets slower hits sort of a vibration resonance and then increases its idle...this can happen several times while stopped.
When I get the codes off the only one returned is P0506 which is that the car is idling less than expected.
I have been told it is the fuel pressure regulator...which is not easy to fix on a honda accord (as you have to replace the whole fuel pump and remove the gas tank. And I would like to find if anyone has any answers to these weird problems.
Thanks,
