The P0753 code indicates a problem with the shift solenoid A. This solenoid controls shifting between 1st and 2nd gears. A faulty solenoid can sometimes be repaired without replacing the whole transmission. A technician can test the electrical circuit and replace just the solenoid if that is the only problem. Costs can vary widely based on the specific issue, but just replacing a solenoid may run $200-500 in labor. If the whole transmission needs rebuilding or replacing, that can cost $2000-4000 or more. I would recommend getting a second opinion from another mechanic to see if just the solenoid needs repair before replacing the entire transmission. Hopefully, it is an easier fix, but it's hard to say for sure without diagnosing it hands-on.

P0753 SSD shift solenoid circuit failure

When this shift solenoid fails you would not have reverse and there there is no 4th gear, You can do just this solenoid , depending on the condition of the transmission. In some cases when P0753 is set is the result of the direct clutch. You can do a OHMS test of the SSD solenoid . If the solenoid is not withing specification you go ahead and replace it. If its in specification you replace the transmission.
