Truck all of a sudden started hesitating really bad: check engine, stabilitrac and traction light indicators flashing like crazy. Dealership said new cam or replace the engine also misfire#4

Hi there,

If the cam shaft needs to be replaced, this can cause the #4 misfire. As for it needing a new engine, you have to price an engine installed VS the labor to replace the cam on the engine you have in the truck. If it's a high mileage engine it might be best to get a used engine with lower miles on it installed. It could also be less expensive then having a new cam installed in your truck.
