My 1998 Ford Taurus is showing a code: P1131-Bank 1 Sensor 2

Question

Smogged my 1998 Ford Taurus and it failed. Codes that came up was: P1131 & P0136 (Bank 1-Sensor 2)
Seems to be the same code, how can I fix this problem?

P1131 Lack of upstream heated oxygen sensor switch sensor indicated lean Bank 1

P0136 02 sensor circuit malfucntion Bank 1 Sensor 2

Its the front oxygen sensor that is causing the problem . If the front 02 sensor is not switching you can be sure it will affect the operation of the catalytic convertor. The oxygen sensor upstream can be  setting the code condition  Bank 1 Sensor 1 this is a upstream 02 sensor.

 The common cause that has to be check ,is if there is exhaust leak prior to the front 02 sensor, Here on a Ford there was a exhaust leak prior to the upstream 02 sensor this code a P1132 a lack of 02 sensor switching , The fix was to replace the exhaust flange gasket,
