Was driving home from work on the highway using cruise control @ 70 mph. Made it 25 of the 32 miles when the van started shaking. Applying the brakes made the shaking stop but any acceleration caused the shaking to start again. Hobbled into town at 35 mph ... The highest speed I could maintain with no shaking and noticed my CEL was on. I took the van to O'Reillys where they ran diagnostics and told me it was a P0306 - cylinder 6 misfire. I start her up to head home and notice that the shaking is gone... To experiment I drove around town streets for 45 minutes ranging in speed from 30 to 50 mph. Not a single problem! The light is still on and I'm nervous about taking it back out on the highway. Given the symptoms are there any suggestions on what needs fixed ... A P0306 covers quite a bit and I don't have any money to waste on parts that aren't the problem!!

P0306 Misfire number 6 cylinder

Check the sparkplug wire for the number 6 cylinder its secondary igntion may have shorted to ground causing the misfire for the number 6 cylinder, This can also be the igntion coil, for no you can just replace one sparkplug wire.

Number 6 cylinder , looking at the engine should be the far right at front

On the igntion coil it would be far right. If the misfre is persistant you do the igntion coil
