My Escape quit running, no crank, no start. Check Engine light came on, pulled code P0606. I was told it was a bad PCM, replaced that. The vehicle started and ran for 15-20 minutes and shut off, no Check Engine Light on, cannot access codes with my C-Reader, shift indicator shows the vehicle is in drive no matter the position the gear selector is in. Took it to the dealer, they tell me the PCM is shorted internally and it needs a new one. Is there anyway I can confirm the dealer diagnosis before sending back the PCM and finding out it's OK?

HI there

The only tests we have available would be testing the power wires to the computer and the computer grounds. If they all come back fine, then the issue would have to be internal to the computer. So as long as they tested these, it's likely the computer
