OEM code p0430 detected. I was told this was bank 2 driver's side. Is this correct? Is bank 2 driver's side?
I bought a used 2004 G35 sport coupe. I drove it 200 miles. Check engine light came on. Took the car to 2 different auto parts stores and got the same reading. p0430 bank 2 and U1000. My mechanic sent me to a specialist he uses in exhaust. They did a diagnostic and told me I should return the car to where I bought it because it should never have passed inspection. The dealership said they would fix it for me. Somehow, someone reset the check engine light and the couldn't find a problem. They eventually took it to an Infinity dealer. The Infinity service department called me after 3 days of having the car. They said they were going to replace the passenger side cat. They had the car for 7 more days before it was ready to pick up. They didn't return any calls during this time. I drove the car 300 miles and the check engine light came on. A diagnostic showed p0430 again. The 3 auto parts stores I went to for prelim diagnostic said the problem was in bank 2, driver's side. The Infinity service/dealer just charged $1,755 for this service.
P0430 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold Bank 2
This would be the catalytic at the driver side. The way Bank go, Anytime its Bank 1 this always includes cylinder 1 and the other side becomes Bank 2.
