P1299 Engine over condition has occured

Low on coolant could explain the high idle condition, then there the hesitaion as you acclerate. Check the upper radiator hose for any leaks,  what can happen if a coolant leak occured it may have entered into the sparkplug well causing the ignition to short to ground. There is also the area where the heater hose are it could of leak there. Either way you have low coolant level caused by a leak.
