the car does not have any power when you step the gas the chck engine light, epc light comes on and the car wont move.

P1542 Angle sensor - 1 for throttle drive (power  accelerator actuation)

When there is a malfunction with the throttle control the EPC (electric power control ) light on the dash is illuminated.

 Here is a VW TSI model with a P1542, there are 2 throttle angle sensor ,throtttle drive angle  sensor 1 and throttle drive angle  sensor 2,  When P1542 code occurs this is a fault with Throttle drive angle sensor 1, since this is not a serviceable unit the throttle unit is replaced
