1999 ford escort zx2. What does 5 long beeps mean?

When I started it up it beeped 5 long beeps stopped and repeated the 5 long beeps arround 10 times then stopped. What does that mean? My check engine light is on and has been for at least 4 months.

The warning noise , the airbag is inoperative and the SRS (safety restraint system) decteced a fault. This will set off a set of 5 beeps. and repeat every 30 minutes untl the air bag indicator or system  is repaired.
