2007 Colorado check engine light reported to tech, and I stated vehicle runs fine with no other issues or signs. Dealer tech reported to me there were error codes 218 and 1574. After about 40 minutes, tech said thermostat was bad and advised replacing it. He R/R thermostat, but I declined brake switch repair. Charged for housing, coolant, and labor a total of 444.94. I drove away, and temp gauge went to high end which had never happened before... ever! I returned vehicle to dealer immediately. After 2 hours wait, I received vehicle and left. No more issues yet . Is this consistent?

P0218 High transmission fluid temperature

P1574 Stop lampswitch circuit

P0218 is when the ECM detects a overtemperature of the transmission fluid .The transmision has a cooler in the front  of the radiator or a/c condensor, make sure nothing blocking it, servicing the transmission fluid would be a good start, If you are towing a trailer do it in D3. As for P1574 when this code set you will not have TCC (torque convertor clutch) operation . As for the overheating when the thermostat  was replaced, that happened when the cooling system was not bleed of air pockets it is unfortunate it happened.Having these 2 code are not consistent.
