2010 Ford Escape, code P0456, and pressure release from fuel tank when nozzle is inserted. what could be the cause?

Hi there,

Usually this happens and this code appears when the vent control valve is stuck closed. The evap system has to open the vent control valve in order to pull the fuel vapors out of the canister. When it can't do that, the pressure will build up inside the tank and the system. Especially when it's hot or there is heat generated. The vapors expand with no place to go and cause pressure in the system
