My 2004 silverado 5.3 will sometimes stay in 3rd gear even when coming to complete stop. I was thinking that maybe low pressure in the trans cooler line could be causeing this. The check engine light is throwing a p0740. The problem is intermitent

P0740 TCC (torque convertor clutch ) circuit malfunction

When this code occurs will not allow your transmission to go into 4th gear, and there will be no TCC operation, The first inpection for this is to check the fuse in the engine fuse box listed as IGN 0 if it is open replace the fuse, If the solenoid is shorting out it will affect other solenoid within its branch circuit,The only fix is to replace the TCC solenoid.
