P0420 1997 Toyota Avalon -

Hi,

My Toyota Avalon 1997 model car showing check engine symbol on dashboard, it was diagnosed and given a code number P0420. How big is the problem? how much it cost? approximately...please let me know.

Usually P0420 means the catalytic converter if there are no other issues, this part is very expensive speacially a new one from the dealer (these will last for years compared to cheap aftermarket ones if they make them for your car)

it is only for emission purposes, and will not damage the car if it is not fixed. But you wont be able to pass smog.
