P1166 2001 Honda Civic

Question

the display on the diagnostic tool is showing-- "P1166 gauge control module lost communication with Adaptive Front Lighting Unit". however the problem is the transmission is not engaging when put into drive or reverse, despite bieng cleaned. please advice

what model civic do you have? vtec? there are three different 4 cylinder engines for this year

 

are you sure the Code p1166? because

P1166 is for air to fuel ratio sensor bank 1 sensor 1, it is not related to the transmission at all
