My 1997 F-150 4.6 with mileage of 100,600 was used to recently jump-start another vehicle after which the CHECK ENGINE light came on, after which I had a code read done at Sears during an oil/filter change and the code was P1506. I suspect that the jump start had something to do with this - should I just reset by disconnecting the battery and see if it comes on again? This has never happened before.

Vehicle: 1997, Ford, F-150, XL Cab, 4.6L

P1506 Idle air control

Clearing this code may clear it if was intermittent, and probably has nothing to do with jump starting a vehicle, When a code is set it first pends, or pending and given time and adjustment for correction, in which case the ECM cannot make  the adjustment it goes into full maturity, For this code, vacuum leaks are the number one reason for this code such as rupture vacuum hoses creating false air, false air are air that gets unaccounted for by the MAF (mass airflow) ,Another cause is  the idle air control can be a cause for this code condition, but more than anything looks for false air you may be able to hear it.
