ELM327 v1.5 reader is getting a P15 error code on 2009 Jetta Sportswagen TDI. Is this the same as a P1500 or only identifying the range of the actual error code (P15xx)? Or a bad read? I'm using a generic bluetooth ELM327 reader with Android app Piston. I've also tried Torque Android app but it doesn't connect to the reader consistently. Engine light is on therefore there is definitely an error code pending.

with some additional research found P0015 error code which may make more sense... cam actuator which would explain some of the rough idle.

Thoughts?

I would try to use a different app, and not guess which code you have.

if that does not work you may need to take it to a shop that has a more expensive OBD-II reader

the problem is that codes over P1000 can be make and model specific
