p1084 Nissan wants 5K to fix help please

if the whole engine is bad it will be pricey (maybe $3k for a used engine installed) 

check the oil level low oil might get you an issue like this, or if you have not replaced the oil in the last 4k miles 

replace the oil (5w-30)

 Depends what is exact problem is

- Harness or connectors (Exhaust valve timing control position sensor circuit is open or shorted)
- Exhaust valve timing control position sensor
- Crankshaft position sensor (POS)
- Camshaft position sensor (PHASE)
- Accumulation of debris to the signal pick-up portion of the camshaft
 
I would start by replacing the camshaft position sensors 
worst case scenario if the engine is not bad, Exhaust valve timing control position sensor (they use magnets to read)
