P0016, P0017, P0011 Chevrolet -

Question

HAVE A 2010 CHEVY EQUINOX AND HAD CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON RECENTLY WITH THE CODES P0016, P0017 & P0011. WHAT DO THESE MEAN? IS THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE OR NEED TO BE REPAIRED ASAP? IS THIS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR?

P0011 Intake camshaft position system performance

P0016 Crankshaft position - intake camshaft position not plausable

P0017 Crankshaft position - exhaust camshaft position not plausable

What can cause this are the camshaft actuator , the worst case will be the timing chain. , the timing would be more suspectable as Chevy has produced a Campaign for the timing chain , this may be the case that you have, depending on the condition this may not be safe to drive the vehicle. TSB # 12313B titled Fuel pump and engine balance chain.
