VW code P1114 after replacing one ign coil for P03014

Question

2000 VW GTI 1.8T code P0304 cylinder 4 misfire . Replaced spark plug even tho it looked good and replaced ignition coil on cylinder 4. Runs fine. Now CEL is on, code P1114 about water temp sensor faulty, harness open or shorted or poor connection. Could disconnecting the coil electrical connection temporarily have somehow caused the P1114? CEL went off when I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes.
