I drive a 2004 Infiniti I-35 and recently my car shut down while I was driving it. A mechanic had changed the VIAS Control solenoid valve before claiming that the issue came as a result of a malfunctioning heater core that dripped and short circuited the ECM. However, less than a month after this was fixed, the Service Engine Soon light came on, as it is the result of a malfuntioning VIAS Control solenoid valve. Dit my original mechanic take me for a ride?

HI there,

The VIAS will not shut down the ecm. It is possible the heater core caused the issue with the ecm, however you would also have a coolant leak. So, if there wasn't any coolant leak, then the ecm may have shut down for a different reason. If the mechanic didn't use a factory valve it could be bad again or there could be an issue with the wiring or the vacuum to the solenoid valve.
